Laugh In Celebration

Fascist Hilarity

Laff In Sell-Leh-Bray-Shun

Response of Fascists to any suggestion by the Academic/Media Complex that the increased threat of terrorism is in any way related to certain foreign policy catastrophes.

(Group of swarthy Jihadists cluster round television to watch Ken Livingstone speech).

KEN: "I think it's obvious that our policies of torture, extra-judicial detention and surgical strikes have played into the hands of terrorist groups."

JIHADISTS: BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA! THIS USEFUL IDIOT CRACKS US UP!

(Tears, gasping for breath, cries of "Nurse, my sides!")

  1. How come you never link to actual examples from the "decent" blogs to prove your alleged points? Why do you only link to yourself?

  2. I do when I feel context is required - otherwise, I rely upon the familiarity of my six readers with the subject material.

You'd be surprised how familiar they are with the ways of Decency.

  3. Justin, I thought you were touched by my confidence in your powers of perception until I realised you were talking about the cat.

  4. I don't think that there's any need to provide links to actual examples to prove your points. Private Eye doesn't have footnotes to tell you which speech by Blair or Brown it's spoofing. Stand-up comics don't have to prove that they ever saw a railway sandwich with curly edges or a mother-in-law with thick hairy arms. Cohen never gives us the date/time/place of these mysterious Islington liberal relativist dinner parties.

Well, yeah, but think how much more telling and devastating your posts would be if you could occasionally point to real examples of what you mock. Otherwise some of your six readers might start to think you were simply, y'know, creating strawmen.

    Just a suggestion, mind.

  7. Straw men: well I was wondering what all this stuff about the academic/media complex was, and whether Malky was this time making it all up and whether he had this time gone too far. But then my attention was drawn to the latest thoughts of one of the Alan Johnsons, and all was instantly made clear.

  8. Gene has picked a strange example in which to insinuate that malky muscular is creating a straw man, as part of the most recent Alan 'not the minister' Johnson post replicates this one almost exactly.

  9. You'd have to spoof them a lot more throroughly before you came up with anything so outrageous as the HP comments box.

  10. ...creating strawmen.

I imagine you think most of these posts are deeply unfair, Gene, and you'd be right - they are.

If you look up "satire" or "parody" in the dictionary, it'll probably say something to the effect of Comical exaggeration with mocking intent.

I think that sums it up quite well.

  11. Personally I always demand that any satirist provide a full and complete transcript of what they are mocking so I can see that it is fair comment.

Slows things up a bit at the local comedy club, but a price worth paying methinks.

  12. I have just consulted my copy of Gulliver's Travels and I have to say I am appalled by the lack of author's footnotes.

I'd go so far as to say he was making the whole thing up.

  13. I had wondered whether some of the comments on HP were parodies, written by inflitrators from Aaro-Watch or the Encyclopedia of Decency perhaps. When I read stuff that starts "Why don't you condemn the SWP and its ......." I instinctively think of "comical exaggeration with mocking intent".

  14. As I mentioned in a previous thread, I thought your Liberal Dinner Party post was pretty funny, because I recognized some actual foibles of the "decent" Left.

But on the whole, I simply don't feel even a twinge of recognition from the portrait of "decents" you are trying to paint. That's why I said links might be helpful.

But as I said before, just a suggestion.

  16. At the risk of encouraging a flood of footnotes in your box, may I suggest this entry into yr encyclopedia

    Assassination

    (1) A terrible crime against crusading Russian journalists , Colombian trade unioists, lesbians, gays and women of iraq

    (2) A “left wing” idea to be considered in relation to Yasser Arafat, because killing Arafat will undoubtedly set free the hordes of secular democratic Palestinians in a tsunami of peace.

And you provide a link to HP. Not bad.

  18. Wow, this really bugs you, doesn't it Gene?

Seriously, you'll be complaining to Roger Mellie's Profanisaurus next.

"Mr. Mellie - Your definition of Stabbing The Cat is amusing, but I don't recognise it. I, myself, prefer to perform Hand-to-Gland-Combat with the Fist of Fury, or occasionally to Make The Beast With One Back.

It would be more credible and forceful if you provided a link, so that we could examine these onanistic euphemisms for Burping The Worm in context."

And thanks, Anon - that's a new one on me. Jesus.

Coming up - mbunderstand, a post that will practically write itself.

  19. Here you go:

    http://hurryupharry.bloghouse.net/archives/2007/09/24/euston_manifesto_winning_the_framing_war_vs_islamism.php

"Here is what the ex-Jihadist Hassan Butt - who met Mohammad Siddique Khan twice - wrote about the Jihadists reaction to that. ‘I remember how we used to laugh in celebration …By blaming the government for our actions, those who pushed the ‘Blair’s war’s’ line did our propaganda work for us’.

The problem, I’d suggest, is that entire swathes of the academic-media complex are ‘doing the Islamists propaganda work’, and the Islamists are ‘laughing in celebration’."

  20. I'd never seen mbunderstand until I saw it on Aaro Watch just yesterday.

Come to that, I'd never seen Dhimnitude until I saw it on the Flying Rodent's page.

I must be out of touch. Is this what comes of not reading Norman Geras?

  21. And how about "Mistakes of the Occupation" aka "George Bush Spoiled my war"

Mistakes of the occupation are the criminal blunders of the incompetent Bush administration, which -perhaps fatally - undermined the lineration launched by the clear sighted and heroic occupation (although we must always have hope. )

These mistakes can be easily spotted - they are the policies previously supported by decents everywhere, like dissolving the Iraqi Army, not ensuring postwar security, and putting Rumsfeld and his loony torturers in charge, while sidelining Colin Powell and tearing up his State Department plans for the occupation,

  24. You want a link?

A piece written by some arsehole who saw fit to refer to a peace march as a "pro-fascist rally".

I wonder whether anybody on the march would have felt so much as a "twinge of recognition" of the "portait" that the author was "trying to paint"?

Can anybody identify that author for me?
